J. Michael Roberts is the President and Founder of Trust Solutions. He is a frequent speaker, television and radio host and guest lecturer on real estate, finance and economic matters in and around California for more than 35 years.
After completion of his formal education in 1976 he began a career in the financial services industry with a large Midwestern insurance company. Since that time he has continued to educate himself and increase his ability to service the financial needs of his clients. He has several professional licenses and designations that allow him to practice in numerous states. Early in 1981 he was licensed to sell real estate in the state of California.
In addition to working with his many financial planning, insurance, tax planning and real estate clients, (more than 475 individuals and small to medium corporations, with over 250 real estate transactions) he has also been highly active in consumer legislation, both at the lobbyist level and testifying before the California legislature on tax reform and consumer protection issues
.
He is the past President and Chairman of the Board of the IAFP (International Association for Financial Planning) Orange County Chapter. Under his direction and leadership this chapter became the 2nd largest in the country with more than 1,000 members.
In 1996 he was honored as the “Realtor of The Year” by the Orange County Association of Realtors. He served as their Secretary/Treasurer in 1995 and 1996 before being elected as its President in 1997. He was once again named the Treasurer in both 1999 and 2000.
As a director for the California Association of Realtors for more than 20 years he has been the Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Federal Issues, Real Estate Finance and has been the Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Taxation Committee 2 different times.
Additionally, he has been the Chairman or Vice-Chairman of several Advisory Committees that reported to the President of the California Association of Realtors. The scope of the work involved Parcel Taxes, insurance issues for homeowner and real estate agents, business license issues all across California, affordable housing and has just completed work with a committee seeking a better understanding of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 and its impact on homeowners as well as the more than 200,000 Realtors® in the state of California.
The California Department of Real Estate approved his company, TRUST SOLUTIONS, to instruct Realtors for their required continuing education credits. His course provided agents with the total requirement of 18 hours in the area of Consumer Protection. TRUST SOLUTIONS is the only company ever approved by the California Department of Real Estate to teach an 18-hour course on Trusts and how they can be used to benefits individuals in the holding of assets and estate planning.
The California Department Real Estate also approved his company Wealth Resource Institute to be a Continuing Education provider instructing Real Estate Agents about the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 and how the new tax law will affect real estate agents and their clients.
His companies, Trust Solutions, Creative Tax Solutions and Wealth Resource Institute have been involved with the formation and management of almost 1,000 real estate trusts since 1992. In their capacity as Trustee of a great many of these trusts, they have seen to the financial management and accounting of the trusts so that the Beneficiary(s) of each trust can rest assured that the assets are being professionally managed. Each trust has an individual bank account set up to insure that no funds are never co-mingled and that an accurate and complete record of mortgage payments, insurance obligations, property taxes and homeowners association fees can be tracked and financial statements can be readily
available to all equity participants.
Mike is an Enrolled Agent. An Enrolled Agent is the only Federally licensed tax practitioner who specializes in taxation and has unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the IRS in all 50 state. He has clients all over the country and in 3 foreign countries. He prepares tax returns for individuals, Limited Liability Companies (LLC), small to medium sized corporations and S corporations. He also has extensive experience in audit representation in front of both the IRS and the California Franchise Tax Board.
He is a graduate of the Pepperdine Law and Strauss Institute for Dispute Resolution. As a Certified Litigation Mediator he handles all type of dispute resolution matters and donates many hours each month to the Orange County court system on a pro bono basis.
